At Tapestry Folkdance Center, volunteers are essential partners in fulfilling our mission to promote the joy found in dance and music. Representing the diversity of our programs, volunteers embody our commitment to community and connection.
Tapestry values the unique gifts that volunteers can bring to deepen the impact of our mission. Working in close collaboration with staff, volunteers help create an inclusive and vibrant environment for all. In turn, Tapestry is committed to providing meaningful responsibilities, supportive training, and recognition for their work.

Dance Night Support
Dance Night volunteers help ensure participants are welcomed, know where to go, that our facilities are cared for, and dances run smoothly. When you volunteer for a dance night, you get to participate in the dance for free! Roles include:
Greeters
Closers
Set-Up
Sound Support
Committee Service
Tapestry hosts a number of volunteer committees who partner with staff to steward our mission and building well. Committee service typically requires an ongoing commitment and time outside of dance events. They are a great way to have a stronger voice and influence, as each committee provides varying degrees of leadership and consul that feeds into decision-making led by Tapestry’s Board of Directors and Executive Director. Some committees to consider joining include:
History Project
Building & Maintenance
Program Planning Committees (specific to each dance style)
Outreach & Engagement
Development (Fundraising)
Finance
One-Off or Special Events
There are also opportunities for more sporadic, event-based volunteering. This could include helping with special events Tapestry puts on, manning an info table for an outreach opportunity, signing-up for our annual building clean-up days, and more!
These opportunities are typically posted on our bulletin board in the building, and included in monthly newsletters and email communications.
