More than a building, Tapestry is the people who bring the building and dance floor to life—and the joy, connection, and possibility they find together through dance and music.

This end-of-year season, help sustain the place, support the people, and carry forward the traditions that make this community possible.

People come to Tapestry for a dance. Along the way, they find a friend, a place to belong, a little more joy to carry into the week. Over time, those connections become part of a life. Friendships deepen. Partners meet. Children grow up dancing. Losses are shared, and people help one another through.

Our story keeps growing: in weekly gatherings and joy-filled reunions, in school residencies and free dances in the park, and in new events that welcome people through our doors for the first time.

Each person adds something. A tradition shared. A newcomer welcomed. A friendship that continues beyond the dance floor.

Tapestry’s mission is to welcome all to participate in the joys of dance and music from a variety of cultural traditions. Your support turns that welcome into something people can experience.

Tapestry depends on donations. Admissions and memberships help, but they don’t cover the full cost of the people, programs, and building that make this community possible. Your gift helps close that gap and keeps the welcome alive

Ways to Give

General Donation -

Give online, give at the admissions desk when attending  a dance, or to send a check, please make payable to “Tapestry Folkdance Center” and mail to: 3748 Minnehaha Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55406 

Corporate Matches -

Many organizations offer matching incentives for charitable giving to current employees and retirees, and you could double (or even triple) your support! All matching gifts will be credited to the donor, which means you receive the recognition and benefits associated with the matched level of giving. Talk with your HR representative to find out if your company offers a match.

IRA Charitable Rollover -

Are you over 72? Do you take a Required Minimum Distribution from your tax-deferred savings accounts (such as a traditional IRA)? You can reduce the taxable amount by donating to charitable organizations such as Tapestry . Up to $100,000 can be donated tax-free. The donation must be made directly from the financial institution holding the account to be tax-free.
