A contemporary movement experience for older adults
Discover the pleasure of moving, creating, and connecting with others in a welcoming dance experience for older adults. Led by contemporary dance artist and educator Ray Terrill, each class begins with gentle movement preparation and expands into musical, expressive, communal dance. Participants explore rhythm, balance, coordination, gesture, space, and movement qualities through accessible, engaging activities. No previous dance experience is needed. The facilitator offers adaptations for different energies and physical abilities, including chair support when useful. The class emphasizes personal expression rather than formal technique. Participants move to varied music, explore simple ideas, and experience the pleasure of dancing as a community. Come for movement, music, creativity, and companionship, and leave feeling more connected and energized.
No partner is required. Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move. Socks are welcome; soft, flexible shoes are also appropriate. Knee pads may be useful for participants who choose to work closer to the floor. Bring water if you wish.
