We’ll be working on somatic movement throughout the whole class, with structured improvisation, floor work for ease of movement, strength and flexibility. Sequences are designed to move through space with awareness of self and in community with other dancers. Everyone can dance!
Kathryn Andersom: I have been teaching for over fifty years, people ages from 2 into their nineties. I worked through Liz Lerman’s Dance Exchange in Washington DC teaching senior adults, hospitalized children and psychiatric outpatients. At Jane Bittner Dance Cent4r in Olnewy, MD, I taught 4 and 5 year olds, Creative Movement and Prep for Ballet to 6-8 year olds. I have taught through Young Dance, adults at Zenon and TU Dance for many years and, with Mary Easter, was funded for a dance and writing workshop for two years ,through Aroha Philanthropies, also teaching dance workshops to new recipients of their grants.
I have danced with companies in Mpls. Portland, OR, and performed as a guest artist in Mpls with Christopher Watson, Marciano Silva Dos Santos, Paula Mann and Pam Gleason. In the nineties I was a co-creator, with Linda Aus, of a children’s show, “Arrow to the Sun, which we performed at many schools in Mpls. and several in Duluth.
