Here's more information about some volunteer jobs:
Sound Technician
Program Related activities Ongoing Building Maintenance
Admissions for events Office Related tasks

See below for more information on each of these.

Sound technician - an opportunity for folks who enjoy being technical and making the music sound really good.  Most technicians are needed for live music events, first Saturday Swing and Contra Dances, in the large dance hall.  Learn to set up the equipment, do a sound check and monitor the sound during the evening.  Most evenings, the tech. would be able to dance with a few minutes out of the swing to make some minor adjustments.  On rare evenings, it would be a full time job at the sound board.  Training is required and is provided. Musical talent is a plus. Contact Staff for more information.

Building Projects are down to maintenance, but are still happening.  Thanks to Volunteers for all your help during the last year.  We've accomplished great things.  Watch for work days scheduled for the fall or spring.  You can call 612-722-2914 or send an email to Staff

Office Projects - includes activities that can be done in the office or even at home.  We have had some great envelope stuffing parties in November, so join us!  Assembling membership, fund raising or other bulk mailings can be a drag on your own, but fun with a group.  Other tasks include filing, organizing old files and pictures, data entry and sometimes just answering the telephone.  Set a regular date or come when we have a big project to do, you choose!  Give us a call at 612-722-2914 or send us a message.

Office Project Details Description
Ongoing - organize files, pictures etc. Organize information from previous fiscal years, file bills, label pictures from building renovation and more.  Most tasks need to be done at the office, but can be done during the day or evening as arranged.

Program Related Activities: include assisting with organizing and support during special programs.  Examples include:
                - acting as host/hostess to visiting artists
                - developing and organizing a special program for a particular kind of dancing
                - assisting with the behind the scenes work associated with a special program
               - developing and/or distributing public relations materials for a program etc.

There are also a myriad of tasks associated with our regular programming.  We always welcome volunteers who have ideas about how to make these events more festive, friendly or exciting.  We are also interested in new ideas for programs.  If you have ideas, please contact the program director by telephone at 612-722-2914 or by email.

Building Maintenance includes any tasks associated with the day-to-day and week-to-week work that is required in a building used by the public.

Some of the tasks such as cleaning the bathrooms and general public space are currently being done by volunteers.  If you would like to get involved with this current group and save Tapestry money, please let us know.

Admissions for Events is an important volunteer job at each event Tapestry offers. Volunteers sit at the admission desk during the first half of the event to collects admission money and keep a tally of each person who attends the event.  In return. admission volunteers receive a free pass good for any regular Tapestry event.  Volunteers are needed for any Friday,  Saturday events or special events.  If you regularly dance on a Saturday night, consider volunteering on a Friday night.  Receive a free pass on Friday to dance free on a Saturday.
