Farewell to an Old Tapestry Friend – John Talleksen

John Talleksen

John Talleksen

It is with deepest regret that we share with you the passing of a friend and community member. At Tapestry, there are many friends and acquaintances of John Talleksen & Linda Olson, active on the Tapestry board and who also played Cajun/Creole fiddle at the Eagles, Homestead, and at many other old-time music venues. John was a lover of music and published the monthly newsletter, Cajun Spotlight Notes & Steps, for more than 22 years.

John passed away on September 27, shortly after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Linda reports that he received excellent care and support throughout his brief illness.  An obituary with more details of John’s life can be found in both large papers this week.

A memorial service is planned for this Friday, October 2, at 6:30, with a gathering at 5 pm at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel, 2610 19th Ave NE, Minneapolis. There will be time for people to share remembrances as well as songs together.

April 8 – 10, 2016: CALL OF THE LOON is back! We’re excited to announce two very special bands: Wild Asparagus with George Marshall, and Contratopia, with Sue Hulsether.

Attention Bike Riders: Tapestry loves bikers. Getting to Tapestry by bike helps with parking and traffic congestion (especially during the roadway reconstruction on Minnehaha) and gets you warmed up for dancing! But please – NO BIKES inside the building. They leave tire marks on the carpet and handlebars nick the walls. Please use the bike racks provided outside the building. Thanks for helping to keep Tapestry looking good.
